Brnaze are a small village near Sinj town which is famous for chivalry and horsemanship, especially the Sinjska Alka – a traditional knightly competition held every August in the center of Sinj. It dates back to 1715, commemorating the victory of local defenders against the Ottomans. Riders on horseback charge at a metal ring (the alka) with a lance, aiming to pierce it. Points are awarded based on accuracy. The event is a key symbol of Croatian heritage and is recognized by UNESCO.
